The only running calculator you will ever need

What pace do you need for a sub 4 hours marathon? What would your 10 km time be like when you manage to keep up the 4:15 pace from last weeks tempo training? How many kilometers does a 100 mile ultra marathon exactly have?

As a passionate runner you may have asked yourself one of these questions before. With I want to give you a simple tool to help you answer all of them.

Why runverter?

There are a lot of tools out there that calculate and convert running metrics back and forth. Some of them are pretty barebones, some of them are very complex. Some of them are easy to understand but hard to use, some are the other way around. And most of them look ugly. 

There is such a big potential to get the most out of it. I wanted something good looking. Something easy to understand but yet as smart and feature rich as possible.

Features - running the extra mile

There are a lot of obvious features you will easily discover by yourself but some of them you might only come across as a power user. Here is a quick overview to make sure you don't miss the good stuff.

Smart suggestions

You can quickly populate distance fields with one of the suggested race events. Even time suggestions are available and depend on your selected race distance.

Keyboard controls

Use the up and down keys on input fields to increase or decrease the current value by 1. Combine it with the ctrl key to change the step size to 10.

Expert mode

Enable this mode if you consider yourself an expert. It will hide all labels and descriptions to go for a very minimal appearance.

Detailed decimal place

All values are rounded to two decimals. Hovering over it will reveal more precision.

Cross tool input fields

Every tool is using your most recent data, e.g. if you're using the pace calculator to calculate your marathon pace and switch to the pace converter your recently calculated marathon pace is already prefilled.

Offline support

Runverter is always there for you, even if the internet is gone. It offers full offline support which is perfect for raceday when you want to recheck your pace and the mobile network is overloaded. It remembers you and your data, no account needed. Everything is stored on your device. Just add it to your homescreen and treat it like an app.

I've never been the athletic type of guy when I was a kid. The biggest sports achievement in my childhood was to manage the stairs in the school building safely. A lot of things changed since then and this article should answer the question my past me may ask me today:

How did it start?

Being aware of the growing number of runners in my neighborhood, I was getting curious about the sense of moving up the boring streets with a smartphone attached to the upper arm. I can't remember my motivation but it must be something like: “This looks cheesy. Let's give it a try!“. And I liked it. The feeling of being physically exhausted was great and in search for a counterpoint to slouching in the office chair, running became a reliable kill switch after long working days. An easy distraction with the benefits of getting in shape and making me switch to a much healthier diet.

I belong to the “all or nothing“ type of people. I prefer to do less things, but doing them straight. With all I have. No strings attached. And in the last years, running gradually developed to be more than just another hobby. Maybe it was the day when I decided to leave my mp3 player at home for better focus on running. Or that sunday morning where I cleared out my wardrobe and recognized the wish to have a reserved spot for running equipment. Or maybe that day when I swapped the word “jogging“ with “running“.

Running? Why would you do that?

Healthiness: I turned 30 last year. Needless to say that you start a lot of pondering while passing that magic number. Fact is: I'm the oldest I have ever been and I'm in the best physical condition of my life.

Reaching Goals: 3 kilometers. A distance that made me sweaty and breathless some years ago. Now a simple warm up distance. 4.6 kilometers. My first running event I proudly finished in 21:50. 10 Kilometers. I can remember reaching it the first time and how proud I was back then. 21 kilometers. I finished my first half marathon last year. A distance I never thought I could run. Last month I ran four of them – one on every sunday. Goals are very important for motivation. They give you a reason to get up early or to run a little longer or faster than you normally would. They make you proud when you reach them or make you try harder next time if you don't.

Compete: Doing sports mostly comes with an aspect of competition, but why would you participate in race events as a hobby runner when you have no chance to get under the top ten athletes? I must admit that I needed some time to find an answer to that. But besides some thousand participants you are always running against the hardest enemy of all. You are competing against yourself. It's easy to lose against a well trained young professional. Nobody will expect otherwise since you never had a chance anyway. So why not concentrate on beating personal best times. You are your most realistic enemy. No excuses. And beating your nemesis has always felt great since Super Mario Bros.


In 2014 I've laced my shoes 176 times and run 1.416 km in over 5 days and 16 hours in total. So I basically ran a 8k every other day. Statistics like these make me feel like I can achieve anything if I'm willing to get out of my comfort zone. I'm about to start training for my first marathon, pretty sure that this will be the hardest physically challenge I've ever made, but I have no doubt of passing the finish line.

Charity November Recap

Last month was very exciting. I decided to donate all of november's Stickerlicious income and the feedback was overwhelming. I received lots of great feedback and many people startet to share this campaign.

I'm really proud to call the last 30 days the most successful month since I launched this project. I was able to sell 4 times as much stickers as usual. 68 MacBook stickers made 544 € which I just forwarded to Children’s hospice Sternenbrücke a minute ago.

Thanks to everyone who helped and participated the last month. It wouldn't have been possible without you <3
